In July Dyke House School was reassessed for the award is a nationally recognised accreditation scheme which gives schools recognition for their achievements using ICT.  The award relates to the use of ICT both in education and administration within the school.

The school first gained the award in July 2005 and are still the only Secondary School in Hartlepool to have reached this standard. We are pleased that following our reassessment we have once again gained the National ICT Mark.

Some of the main findings of the assessor were as follows:

The use of ICT to support and extend learning beyond the school is actively promoted by all. Leadership and management of ICT are a clear strength of the school. The School has an excellent practice of extended school activities involving ICT.ICT within the school has had a great impact on raising standards and attainment of pupils in both key stages.ICT takes a leading role in supporting the teaching and learning of pupils with special educational needs.Staff and pupils use a progressive range of software and applications to enable pupils to have the broadest possible access to ICT.The school constantly makes pupils aware of the key issues of ICT including e-safety.ICT capability of the pupils is reliably and consistently assessed and recorded.  A detailed and coherent ICT strategic plan confirms the whole school approach to the development of ICT.All staff embrace ICT as an effective teaching and learning tool. The schools new learning platform will further extend community involvement.   For more information about the Becta ICT Mark visit the Becta Website or the Naace Website
