Dyke House Sports and Technology College is an average sized 11-16 community based foundation school. The school gained specialist technology status in 2006 and also became a specialist sports college in 2009. Our identification as an extended school is helping support our aim to build on the existing educational services to the wider community. Our aim is to further reinforce our vision to be the centre of a learning community and establish education for regeneration and sustainable development.
Technology has been our most consistent and successful area of the curriculum and we are using our expertise and new technologies to drive standards even higher across the whole curriculum. We have Investors in People, Charter Mark, National ICT Mark, SportsMark and ArtsMark Status. As a Sports and Technology College we will have access to more funding and resources. Our recent GCSE Examination were the best across the town with 91% of pupils gaining 5 A* - C grades and a contextual value added score of 1057 putting us in the top 1% nationally.
As a parent or guardian you are welcome to make an appointment to discuss the needs of your child and visit our school at anytime. If you select our school for your child you will find that as part of our open-door policy a member of the Senior Leadership Team will endeavour to see you at any time from 7.45 am until 4.00 pm without an appointment on a school day. In addition our Extended School Status (accessed through the Avondale Centre) enables us to be open 50 weeks of the year to provide a range of services beyond the school day and also during weekends and school holidays.
We also, as a sports college host the Partnership Development Team to help develop and promote sport across the town in primary schools, secondary schools and the community. The school has an extensive Primary Partnership Programme, together with strong links to both further education and local business.
