Our Primary Partnership is built on the strong links that we have established with our ‘cluster’ of primary schools. We work very closely with Brougham, Jesmond Road, Holy Trinity, Lynnfield, St Aidans, Stranton and Ward Jackson Primary Schools in supporting the pupils. In order to give the pupils the best chance of curriculum continuity and accelerating their progress between primary and secondary schools we offer the following:
- Curriculum continuity from year 1 to year 11
- Collaborative projects that involve working together on identified topics in a number of curriculum areas.
- Support in raising attainment and achievement.
- Open evenings to help prospective pupils and their parents in making the important decision about their secondary education.
- Induction days to help the pupils with the transition process.
- Using our team of Teaching Assistants to support those pupils with special needs in our cluster of schools.
- Regular meetings of primary Headteachers as a means of communication for information sharing and supporting the transfer of data.
- Whole/half day events in different subject areas eg Newspaper Day/Sports Taster Day
- Shared use of resources and facilities with specialist staff available to support the learning.
- Out of Hours Activities and Holiday Programmes are open to both Dyke House and primary pupils.
- An extensive primary swimming programme.
- The opportunity to teach and /or observe the practice in each other’s schools.
- Induction Evening for new year 7 pupils and their parents to make them aware of some important information prior to starting their secondary education.
Our Primary Partnership works continually to support those pupils in our 'cluster' of primary schools with a view to help them to achieve and experience a smooth and seamless transition when it comes to transferring to Dyke House Sports and Technology College
